November is a wonderful time to visit Cozumel. The island is moving into its busy winter visitor season, local celebrations fill the calendar, and there’s always something interesting happening beyond the beaches.
After living full-time in Cozumel for 19 years, I can tell you that one of my favorite things about island life is how our community celebrates.
Here are a few things to look forward to this November.
Day of the Dead: November 1–2
Cozumel celebrates Día de Muertos with colorful altars, music, traditional food and opportunities to remember loved ones.
The island’s Almas con Tradición festival continues through November 2, with cultural activities in downtown San Miguel.
If you’re visiting, take a stroll through Benito Juárez Park and enjoy the decorations and public celebrations.
Remember that Day of the Dead is a meaningful cultural tradition, not simply a Halloween celebration.
IRONMAN Cozumel: November 22
On Sunday, November 22, athletes from around the world will participate in the full-distance IRONMAN Cozumel.
Imagine swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and then running a full marathon!
Even if you’re not a sports fan, watching competitors cross the finish line can be an unforgettable experience.
Visitors should be aware that roads around the island may have temporary closures or restrictions during the competition.
Mexican Revolution Day: November 20
November 20 commemorates the beginning of the Mexican Revolution in 1910.
The official 2026 Monday holiday falls on November 16, although the historical anniversary remains November 20.
You may notice patriotic decorations, school activities or community commemorations.
A Wonderful Time to Explore the Island
November is also a lovely time to explore Cozumel’s East Coast, visit local restaurants and discover neighborhoods beyond the cruise ship terminals.
My advice? Don’t spend your entire visit rushing from one attraction to another.
Take time to enjoy the island.
If you’re looking for an organized snorkeling adventure, cultural excursion or private island tour, local companies such as FlipToursCozumel can help you explore beyond the usual tourist stops.
But whatever you choose, make time for the little moments.
Sometimes those become your favorite vacation memories.
Cindy’s Island Tip: Check local event schedules during your visit. Some of Cozumel’s most enjoyable experiences are community celebrations that cost little or nothing to attend.
