COZUMEL MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA
#Cozumel, August 29, 2023 – For its natural beauties, quality in service and excellent infrastructure for maritime operation, the Island of Cozumel was again awarded as the Best Cruise Port leading in Mexico and Central America 2023, at the World Travel Awards.
This award is the result of the work of all and all, in unity and sum of efforts, where by the Municipal Government presiding, Juanita Alonso Marrufo, together with the state government that heads, Mara Lezama Espinosa, have put their grain of sand contributed in only two years important achievements to the destiny, as the case of the designation as “Magic Town” that has helped boost the island into this tourist niche.
Also, to reaffirm Cozumel as an important destination, work has been done through participation in international fairs and, since the beginning of the administration, efforts have been made to rescue the traditions and customs of the island to diversify the offer.
In this contest considered as the “Oscar Awards” of the tourism industry, the Island of Cozumel competed in the designation “Mexico and Central America” against important ports in the region, such as the case of Columbus, Panama; Progreso, Yucatan; Mazatlan, Sinaloa and Costa Maya, Quintana Roo, winning in their respective category.
It should be noted that, the World Travel Awards 2023 awarded a total of 21 nominations to nine municipalities in the State of Quintana Roo, such as Mahahual, Solidarity, Tulum, Holbox, Othon P. Blanco, among others, including the Island of Cozumel, which competed in the category “Best Leading Cruise Port in Mexico and Central America” with a voting period from April 9 to July 9 this year.
